New Tyne Crossing: Traffic Management Changes

High Street in Jarrow will reopen on Thursday 15th July following a temporary road closure that was necessitated by construction works for the New Tyne Crossing.
As soon as High Street has reopened to traffic the adjacent road, Salem Street, will close to vehicles to facilitate ongoing reinstatement works at the site of the second vehicle tunnel. Motorists will be diverted along High Street while Salem Street remains closed.
Building works towards the New Tyne Crossing are making excellent progress, and the second tunnel is on schedule to open to traffic from February 2011.
