To support local charities and the community this Christmas time, Tyne Tunnels took part in 12 days of Christmas giving. Employees at TT2 chose charities close to their hearts in efforts to give back to the North East this festive period.
Daft as a Brush Cancer Patient Care
Daft as a Brush Cancer Patient Care generously donated some hampers to TT2 to say thanks for the work we have carried out with the charity this year 🎁. To give thanks back, we raffled these hampers internally and raised over £130.00 to be donated back to the charity!
The charity offers staffed custom-made vehicles to transport outpatients, free of charge, to and from Newcastle Freeman Hospital who are undergoing Chemotherapy and Radiotherapy cancer treatment. To support Daft as a Brush Cancer Patient Care, please click here.
Save the Children UK
TT2 are donating £186.00 to Save the Children UK following our Christmas Jumper Day fundraiser.🎄 Employees pulled out their best festive jumper, and TT2 matched the money raised! 🎅 Save the Children UK have supported 45 million children worldwide to get the medicine, good food and education they need.

Tiny Lives
For our third day of Christmas giving, we visited the Tiny Lives team at Newcastle RVI. TT2 are funding the RVI Tiny Lives (Special Care Babies) Transport Scheme for an entire year to provide support to approximately 350 families who have very sick new-born babies in the RVIs neonatal unit.
Tiny Lives Trust’s transport scheme enables parents to spend time with their sick children and removes the financial burden of transport, providing families with hospital parking permits for parents with a car, public transport travel passes for those that don’t, and for those in hardship, help with fuel costs.

Newcastle Cat & Dog Shelter
On our fifth day of Christmas giving, we are supporting the Newcastle Dog & Cat Shelter 🐶🐱 by donating £1,000 to help with their heating costs and the Warm Paws Appeal. The shelter provides a safe haven for animals across the North East and is in need of support for their heating bills.

The BAY Foodbank & Hebburn Helps
On our sixth day of Christmas giving, our team visited The BAY Foodbank in North Tyneside with a food parcel donation of much needed items. Last month, TT2 donated £20,000 to 2 local foodbanks, including The BAY and Hebburn Helps, to support them during the busy festive period.

Cash for Kids
Our team have been collecting toys 🎁 for Cash for Kids this Christmas to help Santa reach children living in poverty. Their mission is to improve the lives of disadvantaged children and young people in our communities affected by poverty, illness, or neglect.

People’s Kitchen – Feed a Friend for a Fiver
For day eight of our twelve days of Christmas giving, we are donating; £5.00 for each of our 140 employees to the Peoples Kitchen Feed a Friend for a Fiver The £700 donation will help people experiencing difficulties to enjoy a sustaining meal at Christmas.

Howdon Community Hub
In support of Howdon Community Hub, TT2 are donating funds to Family Gateway, who work with families on a Child in Need or Child Protection Plan across the North East with the aim of preventing children going into care unnecessarily. TT2’s donation will help support specialist outreach and support programmes to help families to break the cycle of poverty and improve life chances for children.

Action Foundation is an award-winning charity based in Newcastle upon Tyne who support refugees, asylum seekers and other migrants to integrate successfully into the community and lead more independent and resilient lives.

To support Cause4Pawz South Tyneside🐶🐱 this Christmas we are donating £150.00 worth of cat and dog food and essentials to help local furry friends stay happy and healthy this festive period. Cause4Pawz Rescue mission is to help pet owners in difficulty in any way. They understand that the cost of living crisis is affecting so many in our region and are passionate about supporting those who need it most.
Feeding Families
For our final day of Christmas giving, we are donating £300.00 to Feeding Families to 2 months of transport which delivers boxes to local charities, schools & hospitals. Feeding Families is a charity in the North East of England that offers support, hope and security to those experiencing food poverty.
