In June, we had the pleasure of hosting a group of young people taking part in the Newcastle United Foundation Princes Trust Programme. During their Employability Week, we opened our doors to provide these individuals with a first-hand experience of the world of work at the Tyne Tunnels.
The students had a diverse range of interests from IT, gaming, engineering, maintenance, to the care industry. We were excited to share our knowledge and provide them with valuable insights into their chosen fields.
Taking them on a tour of our control room and vehicles, we showcased the systems and processes involved in managing the tunnels on a day-to-day basis.
Then, we introduced them to the career opportunities available within our Contact Centre. They learned about various roles in customer service, discovering the skills and qualifications required to excel in these positions and what career paths were available.
Followed by some valuable insights into the IT infrastructure and the crucial role of our maintenance teams.
We remain committed to supporting young individuals, equipping them with the tools and knowledge necessary to start successful careers. We wish the students on the programme the very best in their future endeavours and hope that our visit served as a steppingstone towards their personal and professional success.
We look forward to welcoming the team back later in the year.
