We have donated £7,000 for a laser cutter, which will allow Norham High School to update its Key Stage 3 Design Technology curriculum and support the development of pupils at Key Stage 4 in Art & Design. It will be used to teach computer-aided design and manufacture where pupils will be able to create and make high-quality products from exciting briefs.
The laser equipment will be used across all year groups and many different curriculums including a newly-planned STEM project in science.
The school’s drama department are also planning on using the cutter to manufacture props and a show backdrop for its 2025 production of the musical, Hairspray.
Charlotte Whelan, assistant faculty lead technological and creative studies at Norham High School, said: “There truly are not enough words to describe how grateful we are to TT2 for their generous donation. It is so difficult to get additional funding for schools. To have the support of a company like TT2 gives us hope that there are more companies out there who will champion our young people and community even further.
“Many pupils from our school go onto creative courses and have STEM careers and this will massively support them in their future endeavours.”
Our CEO, Adrian Wallace, said: “STEM is so, so important to the future of our children and our world. Technology moves at such a pace and manufacturing tech can be very expensive for schools to buy so we are very happy to be able to support Norham High School.”
