The Bay Foodbank started in 2012 and helps to feed those who are most vulnerable and at risk within the local community. Support was quickly gathered from local churches in Whitley Bay, and the charity has been growing ever since.
Since March 2020, the charity have been working alongside North Tyneside Council to help provide food parcels to those affected by the lockdown, shielding and increasing rate of redundancies.
Recently, some of our staff members had the opportunity to volunteer at The Bay Foodbank.
One staff member said:
“Volunteering at The Bay Foodbank was an eye opening experience. I would recommend it to anyone looking for a volunteering opportunity, especially over the Christmas period where the charity need people the most.”
