Throughout the month of June, we hosted Wellbeing Month for our team here at TT2, to explore the benefits of looking after physical and mental wellbeing.
Each week of the month was themed and dedicated to the different aspects that make up wellbeing. We began with Healthy Eating Week, in which we emphasised the importance of maintaining a balanced diet, enjoying smoothie making in our canteen and healthy snacks for all staff. On top of this, we encouraged our staff to share their own healthy recipes, with the best chef winning a restaurant voucher of their choice.
We then had Physical Activity week, where we collectively took part in our internal Tyne to Tyne challenge, travelling the 155km (throughout the week) from the River Tyne in Newcastle to the River Tyne in Scotland. Lunchtime walks were also planned and encouraged, providing an opportunity to stretch our legs.
For the third week of Wellbeing Month, we dedicated this towards mindfulness, doing all things good for the mind and soul. We had a skilled, local yoga instructor from iYogaBody in North Shields teach a class to employees, which helped improve mental wellbeing and foster a mind-body connection. In addition to this, we had the TT2 Compliment Box, as an act of kindness between our team.
For the final week of Wellbeing Month, we emphasised the importance of social connections. We encouraged a coffee & chat session between our employees to bring our staff together, along with a fun coffee themed quiz to go along with it. Canteen games added a touch of fun and friendly competition and a BBQ created a relaxed atmosphere for socialising over lunch.
Wellbeing Month served as a reminder for the importance of nurturing our wellbeing in all its dimensions. By prioritising mental, physical, and social wellbeing, we create a positive work-life balance and a supportive work environment for all team members.
